Sorry - only just seen your message...
We were lucky enough to sneak in with a residency application before the dreaded Brexit was finalised. Because our application was already ongoing, it was still approved.
I don't actually know how Brits get residency in Spain now. I know there was talk of a Digital Nomad Visa being approved, but I don't know if that is up and running yet. There is also a non-lucrative visa, for retired people - but with that, you're not allowed to earn money, and have to have sufficient pension/savings money to live. (I'm guessing, like us, you'd have to have private health insurance with both of these visas)
Most of the Brits we know tend to come to Gran Canaria just for 3 months at a time, because of the restrictions.
Sorry - that's not a wildly positive response, is it, but the truth is that I really don't know how easy it is now, to move to GC, now that Britain is out of the EU.
