We have an apartment on La Isleta and are booked to come on October 5th 2020 from the UK.

I've been reading with trepidation about the coronavirus outbreaks in Las Palmas.

Has anyone had any first hand experience ?

Is it safe on La Isleta.

Are the restaurants and bars open ?

Anything I should be aware of if I travel ?

Thanks,Michael

Hi michael

I live in Puerto de mogan  to be honest I'm not sure where la isleta is    here in mogan there are restaurants  open but only about 10% are open  restaurant owners are finding it difficult the odd one or two seem to do better than others                the beaches are open and there is  social distancing in place  it is mandatory to wear masks when walking in public areas on transport and taxis  churches etc   Las palmas appears to be the hotspot for attracting the younger generation  and where the virus is lingering    to be honest it's probably no different from the uk   with people flouting the rules    but hey they know best      gran canaria is as safe as any other place if you follow the rules    so to recap   bars restaurants clubs are open   but only a small percentage  I'm sure you'll find something that will fill your day

Good luck

Good morning Bill,

Thanks for the information.

La Isleta is in the north, in Las Palmas itself close to Las Canteras playa.

It seems to be where the coronavirus outbreak in Gran Canaria is concentrated, there are a lot fewer cases in the south.

We are not due to fly until October 5th so hopefully the authorities will be on top of it by then.

Cheers,Michael
