Best places to drink / eat for British holidaymakers

Hi,

Me and my girlfriend are currently on holiday in Las Palmas - we were expecting this to be more touristy but all the places we’ve been so far seem very local. 

We have hired a car so spent most of the day down in Maspalomas which felt more lively, but wondering if we’re heading to the wrong places in Las Palmas. 

We’re looking for good places to eat and for quiet drinks with an atmosphere - are there any particular areas we should head towards?
