Hola everyone

I am looking for some advice regarding if and where I could buy insulin in Las Palmas.

My wife has recently been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and this has raised a whole lot of question regarding travel.

We have been advised to find out the possibility of obtaining insulin if hers is damaged while flying or misplacing the insulin, also the procedure in case of emergency.

Any info would be helpful as we would like to come back to Las Palmas asap

Thanks Phil53

Hi I am John's partner Jane .I have had type 1 diabetes for 45 years and have travelled all over the world. The best thing is to get a frio bag to keep insulin cool whilst travelling . Insulin and other medical supplies should be kept with you on flight never put in hold . Bring a copy of your wife's prescription so should the worst happen you can get insulin in a local pharmacy.but always bring extra supplies with you then even if you drop a vial you have plenty .a doctor's letter is useful incase of questions at airport security but I've never had any real problems . You can go thru special assistance at airport so less embarrassement if stopped due to medicines. Please do not stress as it's not a big deal once you're used to it . Type 1 diabetes is much less common than type 2 but we are everywhere.

Thank you for your informative and understanding reply.

This is all new to us and we are just trying to find out what is best to do when travelling.

Thanks again
