Fishing from the shore in PDM

Greetings
Can anyone please help with information about fishing in the Puerto de Mogan area? I have bought a license and will be taking a travel rod etc when my wife and I go in January, but I would love to know if I can fish from the harbour wall or rocks and if so the best methods, tips on tackle and bait and so on. I know fishing is not permitted within the harbours. We went to Teneriffe some years ago and enjoyed fishing off the rocks with prawn bait for a variety of interesting little fish, and I would be happy to do the same but perhaps use lures to catch bigger species if it's worthwhile in January.
