Migrants on the island

As an immigrant ourselves (Scottish) coming to live on the island, we would say yes, you might see them, but in general it is nowhere as bad as the press portrays. When walking our dog each morning and night, I would say that any migrants that we do meet are the only ones that say hello to us and interact with the dog. Again, it is all in the eye of the beholder. It has neither dustruped or impinging on our day today life.

Hi - thank you for your response! I realise I may have come across unkind, as an Irish person we as a nation are migrants and thankful for same. 

We gave a young son and are usually out walking with him at 7/8am in the morning, so I was just a touch concerned from his point of view.

I have spoken with a few Canarian friends and they  are very concerned about the number who are arriving daily by boat.  Not only are they worried anout the Virus  but whether  it may put tourists off visiting  and don't want to see another Lesbos  situation here.  I myself saw a boat on Monday arrive  with about 20 on board all just thankful they had made  shore xx
