Looking for a job: Lifegaurding

My partner is a qualified lifeguard and qualified trainer assessor in the UK, we was wondering how these qualifications work in Gran Canaria or are the lifegaurads (at hotels etc) pool attendants only and not qualified?
If any one knows any more information in this industry please let me know.
