I’m planning on retiring to Maspalomas with my husband in September and will be applying for residency, one of the requirements is to have private health insurance. Can anyone recommend a company with reasonable prices. Also if anyone has any tips on applying for residency and how long it takes that would be fabulous. Thanking you in advance for any information you can provide.
Hi a lady called Nicky Gordon can help you with Residencia I believe she is on Facebook she recommends
[email protected] as a reliable good value health insurance which is acceptable for Residencia. As for how long it takes, at the moment there is a backlog so could be some time, it must be secured by 31st December if possible due to brexit 😊

No problem Markypoo! We moved here on the actual day of lockdown (unknowingly) so are just starting to be able to sort things out! 😊
Hi Markymoo
Unless things have changed you do not require private health insurance for residencia in the canary islands but is better if you have retired officially
You will need a Spanish bank account with 5000€
Proof of pension being paid into your current bank account
You will require your S1 form from uk or international pensions
An up to date passport
To get healthcare you require NHIC and passport
There is a company in Puerto rico who can do everything for you as you will need all documents typed up and translated into spanish
They will go with you to register at town hall social security and policia de commission in maspalomas
I dont have the company telephone number if hand but can provide if you want
I am on whatsapp if I can be of any help
Bill

Good morning Bill, thank you for your message, I’m sorry I didn’t make it clear in my original post that we’ve taken early retirement 55 so unfortunately don’t qualify for the S1 so I think we need private health insurance. If you could find the details of the company that will help us with applying for residency that would be fabulous. Thanks again for your help, kind regards Mark

Nice one Bill, yes I’m afraid things have changed if you have taken early retirement you must get health insurance to qualify for Residencia and prove you have had 5k in the bank for at least 6 months, own a property or have a rental contract for at least 1 year, Nicky Gordon does everything for you for 50 euro, she has lived here for over 30 years but is British 😊
