Cash or Credit Cards right now?

Hi All,
I have just joined the forum and glad to be here. I have been visiting GC for over 20 years now and love it!
I just have a question about cash acceptance on the Island right now. Are shops and restaurants/cafes accepting cash at the moment? I think I have read that shops are only taking card payments, but restaurants will accept cash, but I was wondering if someone might be able to clarify/confirm this for me.
