Weird smell from our pipes....is anyone else experiencing this in San Jose/Las Palmas?

We've moved into our new home 2 weeks ago, and as soon as we started using the toilets we noticed a foul smell coming from one of them. A couple of days later we got a washing machine and once we started using that the smell got worse. It's now in both bathrooms in the house (not coming from the kitchen or bathroom sinks - only the toilets we think). I'm not sure if this is across the area due to more people being at home or if it's specific to only our house. We asked the previous owner and he said his tenants had never mentioned it before. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
