Hello lovely people,

Has anyone experience of taking out a mortgage in Gran Canaria? Please share your experience and your advice.

We are planning to ask the bank for a mortgage, do banks have an interest only mortgage product in Spain? Which bank is the best lender?

Looking forward to hearing from you

Thank you

Mary

Hello Mary

I went through this process last year and enquired through various banks and brokers. The good news is that the rate is (or was last year) very low, but there was a huge amount of paperwork. The brokers were very friendly but unfortunately gave me different information about what I had to do - some followed up with me a lot and others hardly replied but most were keen and professional - the problem was the contrasting information and a big difference in the fees they were going to charge. Also given the difference in guidance they were giving I felt I would also need a solicitor to advise if they were correct - and the solicitor could do lots of the tasks that they were offering to do as part of their 'service'. In the end I stuck with the solicitor, who did great job (Vicki Gonzalez in Las Palmas - with excellent English).

Hope that helps a bit, Saoirse

Hi Saoirse,

Many thanks for kindly sharing your experience, very helpful.  Would you mind letting me know what type of product they offer i.e, interest only or repayment mortgage?

Thanks

Mary
